All athletes undergo initial fitness testing to understand your physiological profile - what you are good at & what needs more work. This information guides your training plan which is tailored to your personal goals.
An off-the-shelf training plan works - for beginners or couch potatoes. Once you are no longer a beginner, these recipe-based approaches fail to deliver significant performance gains. This is why bespoke training plans are so successful: training is individualised, progress is regularly monitored, and sessions are constantly adjusted to optimise & XLR8 improvement.
The data and science behind effective cycle coaching is growing fast. David understands the science & can utilise the latest techniques to optimise your progress, training you hard without over- or under- training. Just as importantly he recognises that athletes are people with many components to their lives, perhaps careers or study, families to support & many others things, all of which impact performance.
People first is key.
Striving for excellence is my approach to life, which of course is a key component of coaching for me. As part of this approach, lifelong learning is a key principle & something I encourage athletes to do - keep on learning from everything that happens, the good & the bad. After all, the resilience & mental toughness required to succeed only comes through overcoming the hard stuff!
