At XLR8 Performance Coaching, I offer lab testing where I measure your physiological responses to exercise load: power output, heart rate & blood lactate .  This process routinely starts in the u17 age group in Europe. Why?  To create accurate training zones, measure improvement, & ensure every part of your program is optimised & matched to your unique physiology.

At XLR8 Performance Coaching, I believe in thoroughly understanding your physiological profile in order to create a bespoke, individualised program that targets exactly what you need to improve.   This requires a power meter and some specific testing to determine your aptitude for sprinting, time trialling, endurance efforts & everything in between.

  • Identification of factors limiting performance
  • Targeted training prescriptions based on key individual markers
  • Avoid wasting time on efforts that won't help you
  • Achieve specific improvements in the required areas

Improvements in lactate levels continue well beyond improvements in V02max.

Lactate Testing

  • This is a separate service.  A one hour lab session in person with your bike on an indoor trainer.
  • Accurately identify the power and heart rate at which the major physiological changes occur within your body & use this information to accurately target improvements in your training sessions, and to track improvements over time.

At XLR8 Performance Coaching, the testing protocols I use are scientifically validated & evaluate your physiological profile.  This leads to accurate performance prediction, permits me to customise training to your physiology and optimise & re-evaluate progress.   This means that you are working on exactly what you need to & avoid wasting time on things that won't work for you or make little to no difference.  Exactly what you need to overcome a plateau in performance or to avoid over-training.


Included in all XLR8 Academy & XLR8 Elite Coaching Packages.
